Upcoming Event: Tax Transparency and Public Trust Webinar – May 2025
Join us for a virtual panel exploring how data disclosure, participatory budgeting, and communication strategies can strengthen democratic governance.
In a time of growing public scrutiny and demand for accountability, the Hamilton Taxation and Public Finance Research Center is proud to host a timely and urgent conversation: "Tax Transparency and Public Trust." This free webinar, taking place in May 2025, will bring together tax scholars, policymakers, civil society leaders, and transparency advocates to explore how greater openness in tax systems can strengthen civic trust and democratic governance.
From opaque tax breaks to undisclosed revenue flows, a lack of transparency often fuels suspicion and erodes faith in public institutions. This webinar will examine the role of clear, accessible tax reporting and open fiscal data in reinforcing public confidence, deterring corruption, and fostering equitable outcomes. Participants will hear from speakers with expertise in tax disclosure policies, transparency legislation, and citizen engagement strategies.
The event will include a moderated panel discussion, Q&A session with attendees, and a presentation of new research from the Center’s Tax Equity and Social Impact Division. We’ll also preview a new online dashboard that visualizes how tax dollars are collected and spent across various jurisdictions in the U.S.
Whether you're a researcher, policymaker, nonprofit leader, student, or engaged citizen, this event offers valuable insights into how fiscal transparency isn't just good governance—it's a pillar of democracy.
